Introduction:
Anakapalli district is rich in livestock resources. 2.34 Lakh households in Anakapalli district are engaged in livestock rearing activities. The Livestock resources in the district include 1.85 Lakh Cattle, 2.5 Lakh Buffaloes, 1.61 Lakh Sheep, 1.81 Lakh Goats, 0.04 Lakh pigs, 7.81 Lakh total Livestock & 33.66 Lakh poultry.
The composition of cattle population in the district is largely Jersey Cross and HF Cross among cattle that yield about 8 litres of milk per day with 3-4 % fat content and Graded Murrah among buffaloes that yields about 6 litres of milk per day with 7-8 % fat content. The Livestock, which provides bulk of the protein to human nutrition, contributes 26% of Agricultural Domestic Product. Livestock is an integral part of the agricultural sector that provides a renewable resource base for economic development.

Different Eligible Projects Under NLM Entrepreneurship Scheme

Establishment of Parent Farm, Hatchery, brooder cum mother unit of Rural poultry birds with minimum 1000 parent layers for production of Hatching Eggs and Chicks

Establishment of sheep and goat breeding farm with minimum 500 female and 25 male

Establishment of Pig breeding farm with minimum 100 sow and 25 boar

Establishment of fodder value addition units such as preparation of Hay/Silage/Total Mixed Ration(TMR)/ Fodder Block and storage of fodder
Subsidy cap for various projects are as follows:
Poultry Project- Rs. 25 lakh
Sheep & Goat- Rs. 50 lakh
Pig- Rs. 30 lakh
Fodder – Rs.50 lakh

5. Pasu Bheema Padakam
Cattle & Buffaloes:
5 Animals per household/ Rice card
(Cattle – age group 2 to 10 years & once calved, Buffalo – age group 3 to 12 years & once calved)
Improved/Indigenous – can be insured up to Rs. 30,000/- for 3 years
Non Descriptive – can be insured up to Rs. 15,000/- for 3 years
Sheep & Goat/ Pigs:
Restricted to 50 animals per household per annum.
Can be insured up to Rs. 6,000/- for 1/2/3 years
If the beneficiary propose to insure his/ her animal for a Sum above the capped amount (30000 in cattle/Buffalo, 6000/- in Sheep/Goat), the beneficiary has to bear the full premium pertaining to the excess of Sum Insured.
Max limit permissible Rs.1,20,000/- in case of Cattle, Rs.15000/- in case of Sheep/Goat/Pig.

The selection of the beneficiary should be strictly as per the Parano.5, Schedule-I of the MGNREG Act. i.e. “works creating individual assetsshall be prioritized on land or homestead owned by householdsbelonging to the:
i. Schedule Caste;
ii. Schedule Tribes;
iii.Nomadic Tribes;
iv.De-Notified Tribes;
v. Other families below the poverty line;
vi.Women-headed households;
vii.Physically handicapped headed households;
viii.Beneficiaries of land reforms;
ix.The beneficiaries under the PradhanMantriAwaasYojanaGramin,
x. beneficiaries under the Scheduled Tribes and Other TraditionalForest Dwellers (Recognition of ‘Forest Rights) Act,-2006 (2 of2007),
xi.And after exhausting the eligible beneficiaries under the abovecategories, on lands of the small or marginal farmers as definedin the Agriculture Debt Waiver and Debt Relief Scheme, 2008subject to the condition that such households shall have a jobcard with at least one member willing to work on the projectundertaken on their land or homestead.”
• One unit per Household (Job card) is permitted.
• The unit for individual beneficiary shall be established in thebeneficiary lands only.
7. AP Animal Feed act 2020, Rules 2021: 10 chapters and 50 sections
An act to provide a mechanism to Regulate and supervise the manufacture, Distribution and sale of animal feed in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
8. “The Andhra Pradesh Milk Procurement (Protection of farmers) and Enforcement of Safety of Milk Standards Act, 2023” – (5 Chapters, 40 se
ctions)
Objectives:
A)Prevention of Exploitation of Dairy Farmers from malpractices
B) Ensure efficient Implementation of standards and other requirements as specified.
C) Ensure high standard of objectivity , accountability, transparency and credibility.
Every Milk Procurement Centre or BMCU or Dairy plants using Milk Analyzers should apply for License in Form-I by paying Rs.1000/- for 1 year.
Milk Analyzer shall be presented for Verification & Calibration (Fat & SNF Determination) in Form VII within 30days of obtaining license by paying Rs.500/- for 1 year.

Veterinary Assistant Surgeon – Milk Inspectors (Calibrate, verify and seal any Milk analyzer & Issue Verification Certificate)
Milk Inspectors Can Seize any milk analyzer, other equipment and any record , register or other document or article indicating an offence punishable under this act has been committed in relation to procurement of milk
